Attainable Moment Set Optimization to Support Configuration Design: A Required Moment Set Based Approach

In this paper, we discuss an attainable moment set (AMS) optimization methodology considering a system’s required (RMS). The AMS describes the achievable moments from system, given its input limits. An RMS, like AMS, is convex in space, describing for system to meet designed mission profile and disturbance rejection requirements. Given configuration of requirements, derived proposed maximizes coverage onto thus ensuring possesses guaranteed controllability fulfill missions design level. To achieve goal, variables optimize are chosen as effector settings, such installation position angle propellers control surfaces, which effectively change without vast impact on major parameters, mass inertia. Since includes massive geometry operations rays intersecting polyhedron, efficient intersection solver speed up process. described method applied electric-vertical-take-of-landing vehicle (eVTOL) with eight hover propellers, delivers highly improved RMS compared initial design.
